Origin story MAXIME HERKUNFT RHEINHESSEN

In the beginning of 2017 seventy wineries, including members of the VDP Rheinhessen, joined together to form “Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen” which in English means “belief in the origins of Rheinhessen”. The main unifier is the voluntary but consistent application of our three tiered classification system. These three tiers are Gutsweine (Estate Wine), Ortsweine (Village Wine) and Lagenweine (Single-Vineyard Wine). We believe this system not only sharpens Rheinhessen’s profile, it also presents the wine in a tangible and recognizable way.

Message in a bottle is a group of young winemakers from Rheinhessen who shout their twin goals from the rooftops: top quality in the glass, and joy in making wine.

Even as the 28 young vintners in message in a bottle focus squarely on quality, they have actively committed to promoting a sustainable balance between the personal and professional.

Whether a young, ambitious winery or a renowned VDP estate, a good wine philosophy must be put in place. Our tent is big enough to welcome a diverse range of winemaking concepts and methods, fostering an innovative dynamic that will be felt — and tasted — for the days to come.
